The £100K High End Speaker Cable & Interconnect Test, Best Results Yet!

This picture shows one of the final cable tests. This is a narrowed down selection of some the best and most musical performers, I have found over the years.

I have been aware for many years that the most costly is not often the best solution, comparing and reviewing all cables back to back throughout the entire cable range from very affordable cables right through to cost no object has been very interesting and worth while.

The systems used during these cable tests were varied at different levels, equipment is listed below:

Domestic System 1
Source – dCS Puccini
Clock – dCS Puccini
Pre Amp – David Berning ZOTL Pre One (StillPoints Upgrade)
Amplifiers – David berning Quadrature Z mono blocks ZOTL 200-watt power amplifiers

Domestic System 2
Source – Creek Evolution 2
Amplifiers – Creek Evo 2

DC System 1
CD Transport – Pioneer ODR
DAC –/Processor – Pioneer RS-P99X
Amplifiers – AudioWave CR200 Mono Blocks

DC System 2
CD Players – Clarion HX-D3
Amplifiers – AudioWave Aspire Pro’s

DC System 3
CD Players – Pioneer P99RS
Amplifiers – Sinfoni Prestigio

DC system 4
CD Players – Alpine 9887R
Amplifier – Audison voce 5.1K

Speakers were changed between – AudioPhysic Sitara, Focal Utopia III Diablo, Focal Utopia 3 Scala, Raidho Acoustics C1, C1.1 & Raidho – Eben X-Monitor & Wilmslow Audio Centurion

Rest of the equipment:

HiFi Equipment Racks – Leading Edge platforms, couplers, mini panels & rack, MusicWorks ReVo3, StillPoints component rack & Still Points ESS rack.

Power cables – MusicWorks ReVive & Vertex HiRez Roraima

Power distribution block – MusicWorks ReFlex Ultra

Room Acoustics – Leading Edge micro-perforation acoustic panels

Twaron Angel Hair Acoustic Wadding For Car & Home Speakers Test – Review

Angel Hair is around 12 microns thick that is around 10 times thinner than lamb’s wool.

I have been testing the Angel hair over the past few months in many different applications in the car systems and in various home speakers such as Avalon Acoustics, Focal Utopia III, Raidho Acoustics, Wilson Audio to name a few and found the right amount is critical (using around 3-10grams for each liter is recommended)
Too much and the sound can become thin, shouty and muted.
Not enough and little or no benefit.

When the right amount is applied I have found results as follows:

Finer details & resolution

Transparency is improved

Improved transient response

Venue ambience becomes clearer

This material can also be used in acoustic panels & tube traps for absorbing mid-high frequency room reflections.

Price is £21.55 per 100grams

Mercedes SL55 AMG With The Sonic Punch Car Audio System

Another installation which will be shown on FaceBook click here for more info.

Merc Car HIFI

This customer “Pete” contacted me with complete disappointment over the stock Bose system that Mercedes use, Pete loves driving the SL but occasionally turns the CD player off as the sound just becomes annoying to listen to.

When Pete came over and had a listening to the “Sonic Punch” demo vehicle he instantly realised it was a massive upgrade and after a few albums he just kept laughing (with enjoyment and surprise) at the comparison to the terrible stock Bose system that Mercedes leave their customers with.

Another issue for Pete was the “cheap” plasticly feel to the pillars and head-lining, and after seeing my own Sonic Bliss system here on demo he wanted some of that effect from of the Alcantara and decided to go with the darker colour as Mercedes had done from factory on the cluster visor done.

Very Unusual Upgrade?

After constantly researching and testing many different items, like I often do, I have to agree some customers do say some of these items are strange to even think of  trying let alone doing and finding an advantage!

Everything in the systems chain matters.

Its no way these can possibly effect the sound, can they? This is what most customers say when I tell them about some upgrades. When products like these are demonstrated most customers laugh out loud as they can clearly hear the improvement for themselves.

Here is a small but worthwhile upgrade on an already great system, when Dave (The owner of this Sonic Bliss system) heard what they did, well he had to have a set.
