Audio Wave Aspire Mono

Nothing can prepare you for the resolution, musical insight and dynamics in a large holographic soundstage the AudioWave Aspire Pro mono can create.

I have yet to see anyone sit and listen to this system without amazement.

After spending the last few months enjoying and testing lots of equipment with these awesome amplifiers I have had no choice but to purchased a pair of these for myself in my own listening room

Home HiFi v AudioWave Car HiFi

Home Audio v AudioWave Automotive Audio

As many of you know I am fanatic and passionate about real music reproduction and always researching / testing different products and combinations to find the very best results for my customers and myself.

I have put the AudioWave reference range against as many different brands of automotive amplifiers as possible and nothing comes close without bettering them!

Now is the time for a real test a respected domestic hifi brand Electrocompaniet AW2X120-M £3490.00 home amplifier against the entry AudioWave Aspire car amplifier.

(Below is a brief description of each audible change)

First up was the Electrocompaniet as this was already part of the existing system

Listening to this system was quite decent – Clear, detailed, stable imaging, tonality was good but to me this system lacked musical involvement, insight and resolution a good system this price level should reproduce.

Second up was the AudioWave Aspire
The sound-stage open up to anotherlevel while instruments in the stage played with more space and pace with greater sense of transparency and cymbals became so evident and naturally extended.

(Although this was a great improvement it still did not convince me that this system was enough! Bare in mind I did have the pleasure of the last few hours travelling with the Sonic Vapour system:)

Third up was AudioWave Aspire Pro
This is where the system shone music became involving and expressive, we were being drawing in to the performance rather than just listening to the music, the system seamed to have a rightness and fullness that was previously been missing before, each singer had sense of body and natural weight behind their voices, instruments had more scale when called for with definition and presence with a greater sense of space, separation and blackness between each instrument and voice
This stage became a lot more holographic with multi layering and overall balance became naturally smoother (but definitely not soft) Everything had gained focus and pinpoint location in the soundstage.

This was starting to show what high-end hifi is about with serious time and dedication of further matching this could become something very special indeed.

Forth up was 2 x AudioWave Aspires (Parallel bridged – one amp on each speaker)
This had greater scale and sheer presence. Musical flow was good while it was immediately evident it lacked the resolution, delicacy and musical involvement the third set up had beautifully achieved.

(Personally I would stick to the third set up and spend some of the remaining cash saved on good music;)

The System:

CD Player: electrocompaniet ECC-1 £1650

Pre Amp: electrocompaniet EC 4.7 £1890

Amplifiers: As tested – Electrocompaniet AW2X120-M £3490.00 / Audio Wave Aspire £1850.00 / Audio Wave Aspire pro £2500.00

Speakers: Audio Physic Virgo 25 LTD £6650

From what I have heard at hifi shows and exhibitions many people would find the first set up good but why settle for good when excellence can easily be achieved with a bit of time and dedication.

Adam Rayner in the Sonic Vapour

Click for Adam Rayner’s comments on the Sonic Vapour seen at EMMA event at CAS

Went to EMMA do @ CAS today and heard Lee Thomas’ newest install.

Astra van – kind of the antithesis of Iceman’s one. (really crap model name pun intended)

Two Thesis (see what I did there?) to run two Morel Ultimos and Morel Elate Ltd eds three ways on active Audiowaves and a fabby build.

Bloody awesome – in your face delicious. Fast and wonderfully dynamic with incredible detail retrieval and rise time like the punch of that shrimp that hits things.

Played a bit of Gracelend and I heard stuff I had no idea was on the disc. Only been out forever and been used in reviews before.

Lovely bloke with mad bonkers grade golden ears. Check him out if you can guys, he is a scary guy. Dare I say it, better than the Turners cars.

Many grands worth more costly speakers (but I could be wrong as I have gone on record as saying the Pioneer ODR drivers are a thousand quid a set as they are subsidised!)

Like Bugatti Veyrons!!!

BRISTOL VOLKSFEST – VW SHOW

Well after 5 weeks of 12 hour days David’s Sonic Bliss with custom door builds. Pillar builds, Stealth boot install and a upfront subwoofer is done in time for the Volksfest!

As with all the Sonic Systems from Sonic Bliss and above each system is carefully tailored to each vehicle, customers height seating position and the system is then fully run in even before the customer picks the car up.

Like all Sonic Systems they are done to customers exact requirements and beyond!

Shane’s Reply

Well spent a good time listening to this and just wow really, imo this is the best sounding system I have heard second only to lee’s van. The clarity of the music, the craftsmanship in the install and the way the music seems to emerse you is amazing. Really amazing build and must say I’m extremely jealous

Yuri’s Reply (From TalkAudio Forum)

I today met David and Shane, both very nice guys with some fantastic sounding installs.

I will start first with david’s system as its his tread :raz:

Sonic Bliss! It sure as heck was!

Now 10k is a lot of money but imo its worth every single penny .

Rarely if ever have i sat in a car that i enjoyed as much as paul’s .

I won’t spout technical rubbish like holographic imaginary and a representational spatial sound field .. no this car flipping rocks :raz:

Words don’t describe how good it sounds, you really need to get a earful …

Lee @ SF has built / crafted an exceptional system that would be the envy of any pro installer .. his passion for his work is unbelievable , like a demented mad professor ,the man is truly possessed …

Dave’s Reply (Owner of this system)

All I can say is its worth every penny, no matterwhat the volume, no matter what the music it is truely awesome, I’ve just spent 3 hours driving home listening to cds i ‘thought’ i knew hearing parts I had never noticed, I can hear indiviual instruments being layered with varying dynamics to devope the full bodied sound, it really scares me and brings out the goosebumps, as I said to Leethis is going to cost mea fortune in CD’s, however the old ones are now being brought back out to enjoy.

All in all I am very happy and loving the music!!!

Comment on TA forum:

Lee from Sonic Frontiers, that is a guy with a serious passion, probably the most realistic dynamics I have ever heard in a car, was like sitting in a small club with Pink Floyd playing 6 feet away.

More info on this Sonic Vapour system by Adam Rayner.
